Four Methods for Identification of Microfiber Leather

There are four main identification methods for microfiber leather. A brief introduction to its use is expected to help you in your future selection.

  • The first method to identify leather: Look. Look is mainly used to identify the type of leather and the quality of leather grain. Observe that there are obvious pores and patterns on the surface of leather. Although synthetic leather also imitates pores, it is not clear. In addition, the reverse side of synthetic leather has a layer of textile as the base plate, which is used to increase its tensile strength, while the reverse side of leather has no such layer of textile. This identification is the most simple and practical method.
  • The second method to identify leather: Smell. The leather with good quality generally has no peculiar smell. All leather has the smell of leather. If there is a pungent smell, it may be that the leather is not handled well in the leather making process and the use of some chemical materials exceeds the standard.
  • The third method to identify leather: Film. If the leather surface is smooth (rough leather is processed from grain), soft, plump and elastic, it is called leather.
  • The fourth method to identify leather: Testing. The following simple tests are carried out for leather. The smell after the leather is ignited is similar to that after the hair is ignited, and there is no knot after burning, and it can be kneaded into powder with your fingers; When the artificial leather is ignited, it will give off a pungent smell and form pimples after burning.
